Berger-Girvalo is Ridgefield’s Champion

As a Planning & Zoning Commissioner, I know it’s critical to preserve Ridgefield’s historic charm and our property values, while also encouraging smart development to help Ridgefield thrive. I am impressed that our State Representative, Aimee Berger-Girvalo, heard residents’ concerns about development, really listened, and then supported state legislation that leaves that decision-making up to our local town leaders and P&Z, and doesn’t force us to build specific housing. I agree with Aimee that seniors who raised their families here should be able to downsize and stay in town. Young people should be able to return to or stay in town if they choose, with housing options they can afford. Aimee addressed this issue directly, fighting for common-sense legislation that allows families to build accessory dwelling units to provide more affordable housing options for aging parents and young people. Ridgefield’s P&Z has locally confirmed this state legislation, that Aimee fought for and helped pass, with updated regulations allowing homeowners to create ADU’s and reasonably increasing their allowable square footage. These initiatives keep our Town’s future in our hands, while helping to keep Ridgefield vital and thriving.

Aimee is approachable, considerate of differing points of view, and always keeps Ridgefield’s needs at the forefront. Reach out to her with your local concerns – she’s proven she’s willing to go to bat for us in Hartford.

Please join me in voting to re-elect Aimee Berger-Girvalo on November 8th.
